Missionaries Huh, Il-bong and Jun, Mi-ryung, Stump

OUR STORY

Missionaries Huh, Il-bong and Jun, Mi-ryung, each completed a term of service in Botswana before arriving in Zambia in April 1993. Since then, they have faithfully continued their calling to serve the people of Zambia through medical missions.

Missionary Huh, Il-bong

Missionary Huh, Il-bong graduated from the International Vocational Mission School established by Stump Mission in Korea and arrived in Botswana in 1990.

His commitment to missions was shaped by the Stump Missionary Devotion Pledge:

  1. Renounce the glory of this world.

  2. Become like those whom you serve.

  3. Be obedient unto death.

This pledge is rooted in Philippians 2:5–8:

“Have this mind among yourselves, which is yours in Christ Jesus, who, though he was in the form of God, did not count equality with God a thing to be grasped, but emptied himself, by taking the form of a servant, being born in the likeness of men. And being found in human form, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross.”

After serving in Botswana, he was sent to Zambia in April 1993, where he has continued to live out God's Word through daily life and ministry on the mission field.

His greatest desire is to proclaim Christ alone through his humble offering. He currently serves as Chairman of the Board of Stump Mission Inc. in Zambia and oversees construction projects for its ministries.

Prayer Request

  • Pray that he will be sustained through physical exhaustion and faithfully complete the race of missions, remaining a faithful servant until the end and looking forward to the marriage supper of the Lord.

Missionary Jun, Mi-ryung

Since childhood, Missionary Jun Mi-ryung dreamed of serving in Africa and admired the life of Albert Schweitzer. After graduating from nursing school, a Bible study leader with the Navigators challenged her: “Isn't nursing your sideline and proclaiming the Gospel your true occupation?”

This question led her to a firm resolution: to devote her life to proclaiming the Gospel rather than pursuing earthly ambitions. In 1987, she applied for a nursing recruitment program in Kenya and set out for Africa. While serving in Kenya, she came to know Stump Mission and joined its ministry in Botswana in 1989. In April 1993, she moved to Zambia, where she has continued her medical mission.

Her life is anchored in Galatians 2:20:

“I have been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me. And the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.”

Her guiding conviction is simple: “The only life I live is for Jesus.”

Prayer Requests

  1. Pray that she will faithfully discern the Lord's will while acknowledging her physical limitations.

  2. Pray that she will maintain an attitude of absolute obedience, stopping when the Lord commands her to stop and moving forward when He commands her to go, even if she must crawl.
